BOTOX®️
Botox® or Dysport® is used to relax frown lines and improve wrinkle formation.
Botulinum Toxin (onabotulinumtoxinA) is injected directly into the muscles to temporarily inhibit muscle movements that cause wrinkle formation. It works by blocking the nerve signals responsible for muscle contraction.
Cosmetic uses include the treatment of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines.
Results start taking effect from 2-3 days with the full effect visible after 2 weeks. Results typically last 3-4 months when movement begins to return and another treatment is required.
There are also a number of medical indications for neurotoxin injections including treatment for chronic migraines, hyperhidrosis and bruxism.
The amount of Botox is measured in units. The FDA approved dosage for Botox is 20 units for frown, 20 units for forehead and 24 units for crow’s feet totalling to 64 units with all 3 areas treated. Dr Elad will assess the need for the amount of Botox needed as some people require more/less depending on individual factors.
Baby Botox is referred to the injection of a smaller amount of Botox with the idea that this will give more subtle results. While this will achieve more subtle results and maintain some movement of the muscles, the results may also wear off sooner and there is a small risk of muscles becoming resistant to Botox.
